From thysz:
It was early morning of September 12 when I heard of the tragedy in mountain city of Malaybalay in southern Philippines (that is of course because of the time difference). My parents were awakened by a frantic call by my uncle, as with many Filipinos whose families are in the United States, informing them of what happened in New York. We all turned on the TV and with utter disbelief, watched one of the USA’s iconic structures disintegrate before our very eyes. My uncle and aunt were safe. I remember hugging my then 1 year old brother and whispering to him that the world will never be the same again after this.
Around 7:00 AM that day, I went to school (I was in 2nd year in high school). I remembered it was unusually foggy and dark, we didn’t even see the sunrise. Of course, 9/11 was the talk of the town. While we debated on the who’s, what’s and why’s, we all shared the same feeling: things will never be the same for our generation.
