Documenting Lima, Peru

Photojournalist Michael Robinson Chavez went down to Peru’s capital last May as part of a six-day workshop to hone local photographers’ documentary skills, handling of their craft and move beyond their comfort zone. Some of their fantastic work can be seen above.

And for Bogert, the city of Lima holds a special significance beyond presenting a teaching opportunity:

Peru is the reason I became a photographer. It was 1988, and a friend had given me a camera and the manual on how to use it. I arrived in a country in the midst of a civil war and mired in chaos. I was hooked; the images and the power of the place seduced me.

You can see the work of the talented workshop participants over at Framework.

Note: An earlier version of this post misidentified the photographer.
