Ah, you can’t be hard on other news orgs. Sundays can be dry.
But if any of our readers are online now and want “real news” of a more local flavor, here are a couple civics and politics stories to tide you over until we’re back tomorrow morning.
- California Democrats are scrambling to replace cash 14 months away from elections, thanks to the Sept. 2 arrest of campaign treasurer Kinde Durkee, who’s facing embezzlement charges. As many as 400 political accounts have been frozen.
- The L.A. Coliseum is under scrutiny, twice over. Times’ reporters have discovered that Coliseum officials have charged thousands of dollars on the taxpayer’s dime for gas, golf tournaments, hotels and country club breakfasts. City Controller Wendy Greuel will audit the Coliseum’s books, a move that comes on top of the criminal investigation being conducted by Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley’s office.
