SpongeBob impairs little kids’ thinking: Watching a few minutes of a show about an “animated sponge that lives under the sea” impaired 4-year-olds’ executive function, University of Virginia researchers found. The executive function includes attention, working memory, problem solving and delay of gratification that are associated with success in school.

  27. becks-en-francais said: Maybe the newer episodes, but I remember watching Spongebob when it first started airing, and it was actually very clever and even taught me new vocabulary words. My mom would ask “Where did you learn that?” and I’d find myself replying “Spongebob.”
